Sunday Night Notables

• I had a crazy week so this morning I felt a bit fatigued but by the time I got up to speak I was fired up.
• The trio was back this morning but the worship was slamming still.
• We had a bunch of people out this morning but we weren't down much either which pumps me up because it shows that you guys are embracing a Sent mentality and bringing people with you.
• I got to use a zippo this morning with my name on it that I got for being in a wedding years ago, it was fun, its the first time I have used it for good I think.
• The intro to the message was sick!
• I am really enjoying studying for this series, it is giving me a fresh perspective on birth of Jesus, I already can't wait to speak next week.
• My new son isn't letting me sleep much, but he isn't let Stacy sleep at all so I guess I at least have it better than her.  :)
• I heard 10.6 billion was spent on Black Friday- WOW we like some Christmas deals don't we?
• I had a wedding this weekend and I took all of the older children with me so Stacy and Baylor could chill and rest, that seemed like a good idea until I heard Shaye yelling for me from backstage during the vows.
• Cindy sent me a jib/jab of my family dancing as Elves and my boys loved it, thanks Cindy.
• I love our Leadership team, I am so grateful for the loyalty and commitment they all have for Jesus and Origins.
• OC volunteers are so great, I feel so overwhelmed each week watching them serve the way they do.
• We have set a goal of $25,000 for our Christmas offering and I believe God is going to help us meet it.....be praying about what He would like you to give.
• I can't believe December is already here.
• A funeral director told me last week that over 70% of the people who come in to bury a loved one are unchurched......there are so many people in our area who don't know Jesus and we are working tirelessly to remedy that.
• Everyone has been amazing to Stacy and I with gifts and prayers, thank you all so much for everything.
• Tempal made Stacy an awesome nursing pillow, dang that girl is talented I can't wait for us to get a building so we can let her creativeness go nuts in there. :)
• We have some very exciting opportunities in front of us right now and I am super excited to see what God is going to do.
• My boys were telling me a little about what they are going to be doing during the Christmas service and they are so excited and so am I.
• I love Origins with all my heart and I am so grateful that God has called me to Pastor it.

Baylor has arrived!

Stacy once again has shown me why God made me a man by giving birth to our newest boy Baylor. He was 8lbs & 11 ounces and very healthy. Thank you all so much for your prayers; have a great thanksgiving.

Our Students have Got some Skills

I posted a pic a few weeks back of Wesley sporting his OC shirt while getting ready to go hunting.  Well, he is 16 years old and this is his 12th deer and 7th buck…the biggest to date.  For you hunters, the deer has 14 points and rough green scores 181” gross.  Our students at the OC have got some skills. :)  If this pic gets you fired up for the season, then you need to contact my buddy Ben Steiger and get involved in his awesome Heart of the Outdoors ministry, shoot me an email and get you a DVD of the ministry, its a must for all Hunters, and would be a good watch on Thanksgiving when you are having a nice meal.  Ben is going to help me get my first deer this year, prayerfully.

Sunday Night Notables

• Aaron and the Band were incredible today.
• After being away last week I was extra geared up to be back.
• I was especially passionate since it was basically a message that expresses the vision and mission of Origins.
• Brock, Kenny and I spent the afternoon today in Columbus visiting a man named Fred who accepted Christ 3 weeks ago and then checked himself into detox to get clean from alcohol.
• I got home for about 15 minutes and then went straight preach in Franklin.
• We (I) went way over time this morning, the time constraints in the theater annoy me.
• We announced today that we are going to be starting to do ministry in Peru.
• We are starting by getting some gifts for some orphans so stay tuned to find out what you can shop for.
• Stacy and I are suppose to have a baby this Tuesday.
• The lighting today was off the chain, seriously our production from video, music and lighting is getting tighter and tighter I get more and more impressed with those guys every week.
• The song by Leeland at the end was the perfect conclusion to this series.
• We have some possibilities that I believe will carry us to the next level.
• The cold has arrived and I'm not sure I'm too excited about it.
• Being away from Origins for just a week reminded me how much I love it.
• Spend some time praying about the Christmas offering we will all give it on the 21st of December together.

Great Week and Great Friends

Cobwebs have been developing around this blog recently because I have been super busy.  For all of you devout readers who haven't run off during my silence I thought I would take a moment to update you on my trip. 

Last Monday I flew out to Atlanta to meet up with a bunch of church planters and friends.  It was great to get to spend time with my good friend Todd who is going to be planting a Church in about a year.  He is full of good questions and I enjoyed sharing the details of our story the good, bad, and ugly with hopes that some of it will help him navigate through all the decisions that lie ahead for him.  I got to hook up with some guys who are doing great things for Jesus.  My time was so beneficial it would take me weeks to convey everything that I learned and all the things God confirmed in my heart.  I met up with JR Lee, Danny Echols, Jeff Kapusta, Gary Lamb, Ross Wiseman, Micheal Lukaszewski, and spent the weekend with Tadd Grandstaff. 

Tuesday night Jeff, Ross, Gary and I had an incredible time talking shop and laughing our heads off mostly at the crazy stuff that Gary says, I also learned that the Canton Post Office is the worst Post Office in all the world and I hate them.  When we headed back to the room Jeff and I stayed up way to late with him sharing with me all the incredible stuff that he's been learning in Perry Nobles coaching network which was well worth the trip by itself.

The weekend was great for me and my buddy Todd, we both learned a ton from Tadd and his crew.  It was awesome to hear that Origins didn't miss a beat with me gone.  Clay had an amazing message, and 3 people accepted Christ.  I watched the message Monday morning and I can't tell you how incredibly proud I am to Pastor such an amazing Church where God is doing such great things.  I am so grateful that God gave me a great week with some great friends.  This weekend I am going to share some awesome news about some international opportunites that we will have coming up so you won't want to miss it.

Time to Close

Alright peeps today is the day if you haven't already got commitments from everyone you have invited for this coming Sunday.  The gas cards have all arrived and they are excited to get into the hands of your guests, so now is the time to close the deal and make sure they will be there with you.  Gas prices have dropped a bit but not enough for us to not want to save a little more.  I'm praying for all of your guest!

Proud moment for a Pastor

Hi Pastor Scotty,
I just wanted to write to say thank you for the wonderful donation dropped off by Sandy Downing two weeks ago. The socks and shoe cards are so important to the children we serve! The Payless Shoe Card is one of the best things we can provide because it lets the families get exactly what is needed and the children are treated to something brand new, just for them. Please extend our thanks to your supporters who made this happen.

Thank you all so much for your desire to meet the needs of those less fortunate than us in our cities.  Please continue to bring in canned goods for the food pantries, we took in tons of food Sunday but we would love to fill those pantries up.  Please be in prayer about our Christmas offering as well.

Prayer

I don't use this blog much for prayer request, but I am going to reach out right now and ask you to pray.  Please pray for Jim Stamper and his family.  Jim has been a friend of my family for my entire life and has worked side by side with my brother Howie for many years.  He is having unexpected open heart surgery tomorrow so please pray for him around 10 a.m.

Sunday Night Notables

• Tons of people were sick today, some people even got sick during the service.
• The joys of crazy weather.
• Next week is going to be incredible, we are giving $10 gas cards to every first time guest.
• Who are you bringing?
• I leave in the morning for Atlanta where I am going to hang out with some Church planters and Leaders, I plan to cram my head with tons of beneficial information.
• I spoke to a couple hundred teens this weekend and it always reminds me of how great our teens are.
• We don't have a Student Pastor yet but we have the greatest teens in the entire world, check out my man Wes getting ready to tag a big buck sporting his OC shirt.  
• Joel got ordained Friday night and it was a really awesome night.
• Stacy and the children are coming with me tonight for my Sunday night service and I always  love it when they come.
• The music was great again, Aaron and the band is really gelling for sure, I hear next week is gonna have some surprises so you don't wanna miss for sure.
• It has been a super busy week for sure and it's not quite over yet but it has been a great one.
• Origins has some awesome possibilities hanging in the balance right now and I would appreciate all your prayers.
• In a couple weeks we are going to be announcing some awesome information about an overseas mission opportunity, so for all of you who just had their interest intrigued I can't wait to tell you about it.
• There is a guy who accepted Jesus two weeks ago in our service and today I didn't get to talk to him but his buddy who brought him was telling me that God was doing amazing things in His life in the area of freeing him from some addictions.
• I love Origins and I am so grateful that I have a Church where I can invite people who don't know Jesus to a safe place where they can hear the gospel.
• Stacy is just weeks away from bringing our son into the world so pleas pray for her as she gets more uncomfortable each moment.
• I love all of you OCers more than you will ever know, and I am so grateful that you allow me to be your Pastor.

Please Pray

Please pray for Jim Tyson. His liver is failing and he is in critical condition. Also pray for Brandon and Tara and the rest of the family as they are traveling to Cleveland to be with him, and that God would provide comfort for them during this difficult time.
